Franchising Pet Food - New UK Campaign
Oscar Pet Foods to invest again in regional franchising campaign: Oscar Pet Foods, the UK's leading pet food delivery franchise opportunity, have re-appointed Savagewood, the local marketing agency, to re-create their regional marketing programme of 2011. With the objective of driving franchisee canvassing, every participating Oscar franchisee was given their own marketing programme devised specifically to suit their business area.

The programme involved Savagewood creating individual campaign plans along with a suite of new communication across all media types as well supporting material such as literature, advertorial even canvassing scripts and business cards – all funded by Oscar Pet Foods head office to test the effectiveness of this single-minded and tailored approach.

The outstanding success for those who participated have led to Oscar widening the programme to the entire franchise in 2012, with the franchisor investing heavily once more. For Simon Bartholomew, Marketing & Franchise Support Manager of Oscar Pet Foods, it is money well spent.

"It is unusual for a franchise to support businesses locally with central funds, but the proposal by Savagewood, the effective way they devised and implemented the campaign locally and, most importantly, the results it generated, are far too encouraging. We're excited at the potential for this activity and prepared to support our franchisees once more."

The campaign us due to break in the Summer. For further information, please see our listing on this site.

Franchise Recruitment A-Z UK

Find effective methods to recruit franchisees. The team at Coconut Creatives the bfa accredited franchise recruitment marketing company have put together another programme of workshops to run throughout the autumn 2011 and spring 2012.  Due to the popularity of the previous workshop programme that has been running monthly for over a year now, franchisors looking to fine tune their franchise recruitment can get access to the complete Coconut team gaining individual feedback on their recruitment issues.

The industry is changing fast. What used to work to recruit franchisees no longer brings the same results. If you are finding that your leads are dropping and conversion is taking longer, you are not alone. Franchisors need to get smarter with their marketing and recruitment process. Sarah Cook and the team will be going through ALL the on and offline routes to market to find your ideal franchisees.

What others have said about Coconut Creatives Marketing Workshops:
"I came on the workshop to find out really how to improve our recruitment process and I've been given so many great ideas, which I think will save my franchise manager at least 6 days a month, which is absolutely fantastic," Sussanne Chambers, HomeXperts.

“I’m always slightly sceptical about coming to marketing workshops and marketing seminars but it’s been excellent.  A friend of mine always used to say that if you can take home one piece of useful information, a seminar’s been good.  Well I’m going to be taking a lot more than one!” Mark Casey, MOT2U

Franchising Works gets support from NatWest and RBS
NatWest and RBS support franchise job creation programme - NatWest and The Royal Bank of Scotland ("RBS") have pledged financial support to an innovative programme that will give 50 unemployed Greater Manchester residents the chanceto start their own franchise businesses.

The banks are providing £150k of sponsorship to FranchisingWorks, which is being piloted in

Greater Manchester. The programme's core aim is to reduce unemployment by creating new

businesses and jobs through franchising.

FranchisingWorks is part of The Shaftesbury Partnership and was launched in Manchester

earlier this year. The programme is backed by NESTA , the Association of Greater Manchester

Authorities (AGMA), and Manchester's New Economy.

During the course off the next eight months, the pilot aims to provide 50 unemployed local

residents with the opportunity to become a self employed franchisee. Each candidate accepted

onto the FranchisingWorks programme goes through a structured training programme designed

to equip them with the key business skills needed to run a franchise.

FranchisingWorks also provides financial support to buy franchise licences for those successful

candidates who are unable to cover the full cost themselves. Once the new business becomes

profitable the candidate can buy the licence from FranchisingWorks and repay the initial

investment.

One of the first candidates to complete the programme was Stockport-based Colin Hughes,

who was made redundant in November 2010 after a 25-year career in various corporate roles.

With FranchisingWorks' support and training, Colin started his franchise business VIP Bin

Cleaning in May. The business provides a wheelie bin cleaning service for domestic and

commercial customers in South Manchester (see separate case study).

Graeme Jones, Head of Franchising for NatWest & RBS: "As the leading bank for franchising in

the UK, we are delighted to support this initiative that will help a number of local people get

back into work by starting their own franchise. By helping to reduce unemployment and create

new businesses the FranchisingWorks programme has the potential to create a lasting and

positive impact in Greater Manchester."

Simon McNeill-Ritchie, Founder and Managing Director of FranchisingWorks: "Franchising is a

proven way to create local, sustainable jobs. Thanks to the support we have received from

NatWest & RBS and others we have already been able to help a number of people in Greater

Manchester out of unemployment by starting up their own businesses. And as their businesses

grow, I expect to see further job opportunities emerge for other local people.

Cleaning Franchise Opportunities for Sale UK
Maid2Clean Announce Franchisee of the Year - The number one domestic cleaning franchise business in the UK has just announced the Franchisee of the Year for 2010/2011. Bob Lambert who runs his own Maid2Clean in Beckenham has been voted franchisee of the year in recognition of innovation suggestions during the year.

Bob states "We chose Maid2Clean because we were looking for a management franchise with a simple business model – something where the goal is to build up the business to a certain level and where semi-retirement would be possible. Also we were looking for something where there was no "selling" involved and where there was no need for skilled staff." Bob has continued to grow the Maid2Clean brand in Beckenham and has strived to achieve the highest growth year on year.

"Now in our fourth year of trading, we are able to rent a serviced office and employ a full-time administrator to deal with all the day-to-day customer service, so we have already achieved our objective of semi-retirement from the business." Although Bob has now been able to step down from the administrator role and take semi-retirement, he now still grows the business to achieve his objectives of a high paying residual income business.

"Our longer-term objective is to build each of our two territories up to the VAT threshold, thereby producing a gross annual turnover of around £135,000 and an estimated net profit of around £75,000 – without working!" Hopefully 2011 will be just as promising for Bob and he will continue to contribute his ideas to making the business successful and strive to achieve the highest profits within his own Maid2Clean franchise.
