The team at the Prestige Nursing Franchise, one of the UKs leading healthcare busines Opportunities came together to celebrate the success at their National Conference. The Prestige team held their conference at Elcot Manor Hotel, Newbury where the franchise and company owned network got together to celebrate the fantastic growth of the business in 2009 with the company reaching nearly UKP20 million turnover. The conference gathered together over 100 people, Franchise Manager, Pam Feltham said,  it was great to be able to meet everyone from across the business and to interact in a more informal setting. It was good to hear how well some offices perform and to hear from both franchisees and company owned managers about how they develop their business, a great cross fertilisation of ideas. Jonathan Bruce, Managing Director of Prestige gave an opening address highlighting how well Prestige was steered through the last recession in the UK, back in the early 1990s. Jonathan is anything but complacent 2009 was a very good year for Prestige, with sales up 20per cent year on year, but we know that we have to do it all again in 2010. He identified the Prestige Nursing business model as one of the key reasons for the companys success.

We have always strived to offer a good range of well defined services to our customers, and in recent years this has meant offering both healthcare recruitment and homecare services as a reflection of the growing convergence between health and social care. There were other presentations from, Diane Jared, Financial Director and Carol Hunt, Commercial Director who looked at an operational review of the year and plans for 2009, as well as updating the attendees on market trends and changes. Carol Hunt outlined plans for a specialist homecare service early in the year, with the aim of targeting client groups that require highly specialised or complex care at home. She also outlined the increasing drive by the government to offer more and more nursing and domiciliary care in the community through the NHS and how uniquely well placed Prestige is to be able to take advantage of that. IT Manager, Wayne Giles presented on the launch of a range of on line services for its agency workers, allowing them to check when and where they are working, view their payslips and amend their personal details.

This new online facility will allow franchisees to interact far more effectively with their agency workers as most of the more mundane activities can be carried out through the website. Not only will this be a real value added service for the workers but it will also allow franchisees to spend more time growing their business, which is the key principle of the franchise system. The afternoon finished with a Dragons Den style business team challenge and the day ended with a Glitz and Glamour black tie dinner.
