Franchisor Case Study

Paul Hanke, the man behind the vision, explains why
the sector is experiencing growth despite the current economic climate.

Paul Hanke, the Managing Director of Network Health & Social Care, has a formidable and impressive background in healthcare recruitment. Originally working for the NHS, Paul broadened his industry experience heading private and independent healthcare organisations in the UK, Europe and USA. In 2001 he returned to the UK and launched Pertemps Healthcare, one of the largest and most successful healthcare recruitment businesses in Britain today. Pertemps Healthcare was re-branded Network Health & Social Care in August 2007 as one of the Network Brand Partnerships niche recruitment franchise opportunities. The company is now growing its 11 established regional offices through a network of partners (franchisees).

The Healthcare Recruitment Landscape has Changed

Healthcare recruitment traditionally supplied qualified nurses and support staff to the NHS and private care sectors. More recently changes in Government policy and other associated organisations have seen Network Health & Social Care fulfill the recruitment needs of a much broader client base. Today temporary and permanent healthcare professionals are provided to PCT's, Councils, supported housing organisations, charities, care homes as well as domiciliary services for private and public contracts. With an aging population the Care Sector is experiencing healthy growth and is currently worth over £12 billion per annum.

"The Government is encouraging people to receive care in their own homes as it is far more cost effective and flexible to provide. As a successful, stable and long established niche recruitment business, we couldn't be better positioned to expand further and fill these healthcare recruitment needs nationally, which is why we decided to franchise the business and develop a network of partners," commented Paul.

The Network Health & Social Care Vision

Network Health & Social Care is one of the specialist recruitment models supported by Network Brand Partnerships, an arm of the Pertemps Group, one of the largest groups of Recruitment Companies in the UK. With the incredible support package available and Paul's proven business model this is an exciting and rewarding business to invest in. Paul has experienced the strengths, frustrations and limitations of the different healthcare recruitment organisations from both sides of the fence.

He set out to achieve a national network that pooled all these good practices, high service standards and empowering cultures that would make his organisation superior, and not just for clients. He believes that an enjoyable, fulfilling and rewarding culture for partners (franchisees) and their employees is essential to success. Paul refers to franchisees as partners, as he strongly believes in ethical business practice and supporting each business owner to ensure success for everyone.

"In essence our healthcare experience allows us to provide new partners with the best training, support and knowledge ensuring they hit the ground running," notes Paul.  "We work with partners to ensure their business has the highest chance of success. Our support includes comprehensive training, cutting edge business management systems and ongoing advice with regulatory compliance. We also provide a totally unique and reassuring debt factoring service. This means that 100% of the previous month's client invoices will be paid in full, on time, every month. This ensures our partner's business has reliable cash flow, the reason why 80% of small businesses fail!"

The Man Outside The Business

Paul is married with two grown up children and lives in a rural suburb on the outskirts of Birmingham. He and his wife have a great love of road trips and the excitement and adventure they bring!  Recent road trips saw them exploring British Columbia and the California's Vineyards, a good grape being another of Paul's passions in life.

As an avid art fan, Paul can often be found admiring contemporary work in numerous galleries and has a broad music taste too. Paul and his wife Diane are off to see Morrisey play live in the coming weeks. When asked what if anything he regrets? "I would have loved to have learned to play the piano, perhaps one day..."

Suitable Potential Partners

This business opportunity is for those looking to help others gain control of their lifestyle and build a solid future for themselves and their family. There are few business opportunities that are truly unaffected by the economic climate and also logically set to continue growing!

"We are looking for partners who want to run their own niche care sector recruitment business. People, who want to concentrate on the fundamentals of the business, reassured that they are being supported by one of the best and most experienced support teams. People that wish to offer the highest standards of service currently available. This business model is ideal for couples who wish to work together and is hugely rewarding," adds Paul.

While the initial franchise fee is small, you will realistically need at least £80k in total to set up your Network Health & Social Care business. This includes full training and office set up using their unique and established systems. Their excellent relationships with the major high street banks means you could potentially borrow up to 70% of your total requirement.

Paul is also actively encouraging more women into franchising by empowering them with the systems and skills they need to succeed as business owners.
